Need Spoiler - Ch 2 - Spirit of the Wood

Post by Kibblez »

Argh!

It's bad enough I had to hack my way through the Bambi's and Pixie's and chopped up a bunch of more-or-less innocent nymph slaves, but do I really have to kill the Spirit of the Wood? I have the antidote but the Spirit attacks my Bard on sight and doesn't seem to pause to chat when death is looming...

I killed it twice during my lunch break today and will try to find a way around it after dinner tonight. Do I throw the darn potion at it? I did wander around to find a tree, but the only big tree I could locate didn't have a place for a potion (I held the TAB key down constantly).

So, Hey! Help me save Bambi's dad!

well the Spirit is supposed to talk to you when it's at Near Death, I've had a similar problem when I had the barbarian henchmen with me and he hit the spirit so hard that it died before it had a chance to go neutral. All I can suggest it that you try again and be careful about using powerful attacks when the Spirit is almost finished.

Hope this helps

Ares2382 is right, you just have to try again. I had the problem that my summoned dire bear just kept on bashing that poor stag, so it died.

Remember too take out the any summons by the Spirit as they have the same affect as your summons. A fix for this would be to have all summons by the enemy disappear when the enemy goes neutral.

Thanks Ares -
I tried again, and this time was able to wedge my henchy (the half-orc) between the summoned bear and myself so he could not reach the Spirit. I didn't heal the bear and let the Spirit kill him - then Orcky and I got seriously busy and as soon as the Spirit went to Near Death, I told bim "Stand your ground" while I duked it out with the dear dear. Whenever the Spirit nuked us with Cone of Cold, I had to repeat the "Stand" command, but this time, I was able to speak to it and give it the healing potion. Unfortunately, I did not get to loot the alter this time, but I feel better about things now.

Is that Cone of cold? I always thought it was Ice storm.
