This can't be allowed by law can it?

The sad thing is...I don't believe there is a law in the US against this. There is only one local law about ads where I live..."Can't be over twenty feet off the ground"...and this is only in the city limits.

Thats awfully disturbing. If this was a Satirewire article or one from another humour site. I could understand, but thats just plain wrong. Hopefully the public will stop it before it even begins.
Well i wouldnt believe there would be a law on this. I mean come on how sick and argh can you get. It is annoying how the company is doing this. It is just wrong. You dont use dead bodies to advertise games. I say people sue the damn company and hit where it hurts ie money.

I think this is actually a PR stunt, i just found this reference to it on another site:
"The last time we heard about Acclaim's Adventures in Marketing, they were trying to put ads on tombstones. At least, they said they were, and that's virtually all it took to activate the scandal-friendly media." *shrug*
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.
Its a sick PR stunt. But what would they get out of it?
Ok people might buy their game, but heck people aint gonna go out and get their games do to this tombstone advertising.

Well, if its a stunt. Then they won't really go through with it.
Stunts are ment to get people talking about it, like we are doing now. Free publicity and all that.
Eather way, it's still sick and wrong...
I don't think it's ever going to actually happen. But they don't need it to, just the suggestion of it is enough of a stunt to get all the publicity they need...

I find it impossible to believe this is anything other than either 1) a joke, or 2) a move by some PR idiot outside Acclaim to lose 'em some business. I know several of the PR folks at Acclaim, and they'd never sanction such rot.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
That's utter desecration! Don't they have any respect? Are they THAT despererate to advertise?

If this is indeed true, I hate to sound like I'm defending these yokels, but there's no law (that I'm aware of) that says someone can't have or display bad taste.
I'm sure that it is not a crime or in voilation of any existing ordinances to advertise on a tombstone or gravesite because no one has ever done it before. Does that make it right? No, but that won't stop someone from trying.

hmm, why is spray painting a tombstone defacement, and illegal, yet using it as an advertisement isn't? I'm confused.
At this moment, I agree with Sleep about this being a stunt. Notice how the drop shadow man 2 into the mix at leas 3 times, mentioning its "violent and gorey fights scenes" and a plot (I use the term loosely) synopsis. I'm surprised the article didn't rate the game while it was at it. One big stunt done in poor taste by a large company.
@fable, you just happen to know PR reps from Acclaim. Why am I not surprised.
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

FULL ON RANT COMING!!!
If I was charged with a felony would I be given the weekend to party while I waited for my lawyer to get back from vacation??
I believe the Mayor, the Chief of Police and any official involved in this mess should be charged with absurction (sp) of justice and be jail without bond.

Because that spray paint was put there by someone other than the owner of the tombstone, and presumably an advertisement would be placed on the monument at the request, or at least with the consent, of either the person being buried or their estate.
