Question about memorizing spells. Help?

Post by Quakey »

I've had Torment for two days and am utterly addicted. Only one problem: I bought the bargain $9.99 version, which only comes with a jewel case and a bare-bones PDF manual. And I can't figure out from them how to memorize spells.

I know you need to memorize a spell before you can cast it. I know that you need rest to memorize a spell. When learning mage lore from Mebbeth, she says to set it up before you rest. How?? I've tried every combination of clicking and double-clicking on every menu and screen I can think of, with no luck.

Help?

Thanks so much,

First you have to get the magic scrolls so you can copy them into your spellbook. I am guessing that you don't know how to access your spell book. There's two ways to do this. First, if you haven't changed the keymapping, then press the key "S" when you click on the Nameless One or anyone other Mages in your party. Then you have access to the spellbook. The Second way is to look for the radial panel at the bottom of the screen, right next to the portraits. You should be able to see a red-colored button. Move your mouse over it and you will see a screen-tip called "Spellbook". Click on that and you can also access your spell book. Also, if you want to access spellbook for Clerics or Priests, press the button "W" when the Priest or Cleric in your party is selected.

Once you actually get the scrolls, go to the inventory and right click on them. You get a description of the spell, and there's a button at the bottom called "Copy Scroll" or something of that nature. Click on that button, and you should be able to see a dialogue that says "Spell copied successfully" or something like that. Then go into your spellbook, and you should see two panels. One panel should have the spell you have just copied. HOwever, on the other panel, you have nothing. Then click on the spell you have copied, and a dimmed version should appear on the other panel. Then rest, and then access your spellbook again, and you should be able to see both panels having the same spell icon.

The Church could use someone like that.
