not using henchmen

Post by rexwest »

I am running a straight cleric and have been summoning animals to act as an escort and help with the fighting. I notice that it says that the game expects you to hire a henchman at the difficultly level I am at(normal) to date(just starting chap2) I have had no need for a henchman. Besides help in fights does anyone know if I might be missing anything such as side quests because I do not want to use a henchman??? Is anyone else out there not using henchman?

I was.
Then I gave Tomi a try, because I got sick of the traps and locked stuff, I kinda sticked with it. Perhaps I'll get an spellcaster sometime too, but somehow I don't feel like getting help this game like in BG. I don't really know why.
Guinness is good for you.

The only thing you are missing out on is the sidequests that the henchmen themselves provide. The kicker is you don't ever have to use them, you simply hire them, talk to them about their stories and leave them somewhere. When you level go talk to them again and after a while you get the whole story arc for them for that chapter, they will tell you about an item they need. When you find the item bring it to them and they give you something in return. The items they give you are nice and they get better as you progress through the game. But it wont do you any good now since you are in chapter 2 and to continue their side quests in chapter 2 you must have finished them from chapter 1. So go on and don't worry about it.
It is best to be thought a fool and stay silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
