helping Salibesh

I'm supposed to be able to talk to Lady Thorncombe about Salibesh trying to get a position she is up for. She won't talk to me, just keeps losing her focus and Salibesh won't initiate any new dialogues. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Tell Lady Thorncombe you want her to train you as a mage. Go through that dialog including telling her that she is addicted and keep going down that dialog path untill you can only "leave."
Then go tell Salabash she is addicted. Then you can tell Thorncombe that Salabesh plans on taking her position and she'll decide to continue being the mage tutor.
