Question.......Ascension!?

I keep reading a lot about Ascension.
What dous it do exactly?
Make battles harder, or create new ones?

And is it just an un-official ad-on or is it from bioware???

It's a work of Dave Gaider. Not official, but the closest thing...
Though in the last release (check the link for the Solaufein Mod) it includes all the Improved ToB Battles,
originally the mod modified only the end of ToB, and yes, the final battle is HARDER.
Hmm.....
Not really the word I was searching for...
Let's say that finishing ToB the first time, it was just a matter of a couple of reloads, while beating Ascension, makes you really feel like you've earned the Godly Status!

Oh and a battle is ADDED, just before the final one.

With this Mod Balthazar can become an ally of yours (certain requirements needed..).
BEFORE the final battle you'll face Irenicus (a SMARTER Irenicus)
again! And Bodhi!!!
AND Imoen, but, WAIT, DO NOT KILL HER!!!!

The final battle is almost insane.
I detailed it already, so I won't write further, but man, that one was hard....

Can I install if half way through the game, or do I have to start a new game?

And it dousn't change SoA?

It doesn't change anything in SOA, just TOB. It also upgrades your slayer ability so that you become a lot stronger than b4. It is MOST DEFINATELY worth getting. It's a much more rewarding ending to the game, and as Littiz said, it feels like you've really accomplished something. What do you mean "half way through the game"? Do you mean half way thru SOA, or TOB? If your still in SOA it shouldn't have any problems, however I'm not sure about part way thru TOB. I would assume that you would have to start TOB again, as it changes dialogues with certain characters.

I was just feeling "guilty".....

BTW, you can install it before speaking to Balthazar the last time.
If you install it earlier though, some random ToB dialogs are forced to happen, so you won't miss them.

I think it also modifiers some spells. I read somewhere that black blade of disaster for example also heals the wielder in Ascension.

Then there is this spell Focus that makes you immune to timestop right?

Let's just clarify

:
-Black Blade ALREADY had a (random) chance to heal
the wielder.
-Focus is a special ability that you gain only before the last
Ascension battle.

ALMOST sure...
