Ascension final battle unbelievably bugged!

Post by Littiz »

I've made tests and tests.
(and I have enough of this today, I'll just leave this post...)
This can be nothing but a bug.
As I explained in my other post, the five don't die.
No matter the damage.

I go for Sendai first, she goes to near death, and any additional
damage is wasted. 700, 800, 1000, points of damage.
Nothing.
Tried to go on with the battle, leaving her there... she heals.
In meanwhile I attacked the others, and decided to try CTRL-Ying her now and then, finally *once* she died....
The same for the others...
I pump with all my best spells, deliver unbelievable amounts of damage, and *sometimes* they die, but most of the times they
just don't notice!
It seems to happen just randomly, doesn't matter if Melissan is there or not, or if I try to stop hitting them for a while..
doesn't matter if the battle just started or if it's going on for hours...

Tried to CTRL-Qing Sendai, even in my party she's immortal...
NOTHING kills her...

Damn, I cannot finish the game even CHEATING!!!
They don't die, so NOTHING happens!!!!!!!

Any help?
Suggestions?

This sounds like the "Near Death invincibility bug" that Quitch was talking about - this is from the forum over at Solaufein Mod site, same link as in Quitch's post for testers for WeiDU version of Ascension, here. Dyara - on that board - is working on the fix, so you might have to wait for the next release of the Mod.

thanx Sabre.

Very strange anyway.
I mean, Ascension is all about the final battle.
A major bug like this one (that PREVENTS the game to be completed) should have had some more reports and attention...

Too bad, I really like the work on Ascension, the different paths that the NPCs may take (Bodhi, Sarevok, Balthazar), and the 2 final battles would be GREAT.

Let's hope they'll fix it..... :(

Actually ive had something similiar to this happen with Trolls of all things. Ill kill trolls to near death, and there they stay. They wont fall to the ground, and I cant acid/flame arrow them dead when they are standing. The just sit there fidgeting at near death absorbing ridiculous amounts of damage.

Trolls arent exactly dangerous, so it never really bugged me, but it sounded similiar to what youre having.

I've noticed that the troll AI is slightly bugged - whenever I notice one at near death who is refusing to fall down, usually backing off my party does the trick.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

I think it must be related to some kind of scripting at near death. Like if they have a script for 'something' to happen at Near Death it sometimes hangs up.
