shoplifting???

Well, I was in a small town ("don't know the name anymore") and I entered a shop full of goodies.

Instead of buying those things, I just took them in front of the shop-owner who does not react at all. He only yells a little bit

Anyways, is this normal, I thought he would call a guard or so but I just walked away without any problem???

I'm wondering if this is normal or I did I just have some luck that there were no guards around???

You were probably lucky - if you go into sneak mode you can steal and not be caught.

Since you were caught I would avoid guards - I believe they will attempt to detain you if you talk with them. You can get your bounty cleared by some guild leaders. If you are caught by a guard and choose the option to pay your fine - they will also take any stolen goods that are on your person away from you...

Important Point to Bear in Mind:

If you're ever arrested by the guards in the future, *all* items you've stolen will be confiscated, whether on you or in a stash, and any items you no longer possess will have their value subtracted from your gold.

Loosing stuf

what if you have hidden it in another town?
like in crates in the smugglers cave?
I have usde it as a base camp of sorts.
surly your loot would be safe in that cave!
