so, who caught the movie this weekend?
i thought it was very well done. only two pieces were glaringly different from the comic, but didn't effect the story in the least.
and second question, how do you think it will effect the star wars opening?

Well, it's got nothing on Star Wars. Any movie where there is a two foot tall muppet openninga serious can of Jedi Whoop-ass is gold, in my opinion.

Also, Spidey was an alright movie. A few real cornball lines, but well done in the long run. I personally like the scene in the alley. You know, where there is the rain, and Kirsten Dunce.... :D

I havn't seen the movie, but I still have no idea what all the hype is about. All this talk about beating Episode II is making me wonder haw many Star Wars fans are left fter Episode I  .

I think that Tobey Maguire is one of the wimpiest, least charismatic, and most unatractive young actors in exsistence.
Even though thats what Peter Parker is, they certainly could have done better than him!

I didn't think the trailers looked that great, AoTC looked an infinity and beyond better than it.
I've been downloading alot of trailers lately- and Spiderman looked like the worst one, with the possible exeption of 'The Bourne identity'.

Whats probably gonna happen is just like Episode I and FoTR- I'll get really excited about it a few days before I see- and I will be disappointed. Yes, I did not think FoTR was extriemely good- although TTT looks amazing.

I've only seen the trailers, and like Morlock said...

That drained all the enthusiasm out of me

From desperately wanting to go see it on opening night, I might not even see it after watching that.

i myself have watch spiderman twice in the movies.
and i love it.

like wat nael said oni a few diffence existed.
i tink all the cast in spiderman were great.
peter parker was jus as he is in the comics,
but the goblin look funny.
the animations were great. spidey has real cool swings.

i can't wait for starwars episode 2 too.
i tink i will watch more then twice for starwars
so that spidey won't steal the box office away.
i like spidey, but i'm in for starwars.

I thought it was a great movie. I'm glad Raimer (the director) focused more on character development than special effects battles and explosions (though there was some of that), 'cuz Peter Parker, MJ, the Osbornes and (best of all) James Jonah, felt like flesh and blood human beings with strong personalities of their own, and not just two-dimensional comic book characters we could care less about.

Wimpy? The boy bulked up something fierce for this role! Image He’s not Schwarzenegger, but he definitely has the build to play the lithe and agile Spider-Man. Plus he looks like an ordinary guy, not some perfect model. Most women I know think he’s “cute”, in sort of a guy next door kind of way (Perfect for the unspectacular Peter Parker). I think it was inspired casting. Image

I kinda like the "Techno-Goblin" look. In the comics and cartoons it's really hard to tell whether the Green Goblin wears a mask or is some kind of green mutant. The new goblin helmet looks great, I just wish the rest of the outfit was better (and Willem Dafoe was another perfect casting choice). Image

Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Amazing! The last four (now five) posters all have Star Wars avatars. What's this place coming to?

Make that six.

I saw Spider-Man yesterday and thought it was pretty good. My disclaimer is that I'm not a huge Spidey fan, so I wasn't looking for it to be the end-all of comics-to-movies adaptations.

The Highs: Willem DeFoe, Kirsten Dunst; excellent casting choices, can't wait to see who they get to be Doc Oc. Good job in adapting the comic book story to the screen. The way Parker got his powers was condensed with a sneaky way of disguising the super-powers exposition in with the science lesson. Special effects were amazing, especially considering how they had the camera follow Spider-Man as he was swinging throughout the city.

The Okays: Tobey McGuire; I didn't care that much for him, but then again, I didn't really like Elijah Wood as Frodo either. J. Jonah Jameson wasn't as I have pictured him to be in the past, but he's still very funny. The guy who played Harry wasn't very good either.

The Bad: The way Peter and MJ ended. Bad, bad, bad. Plus it dragged on forever. I didn't like that they took out the bank robbers escaping in the chopper only to be entangled in a web between the World Trade Towers (like was shown in a film trailer I saw last year at Monsters, Inc.). Yes, I know there is a fear of people having bad flashbacks if they see the towers, but I'd like something, anything, to acknowledge that they were even there and such a magnificent part of the New York skyline.

uhh I don't think that was ever supposed to actually appear in the movie. That was just a promotional advertisement and when everyone saw the huge web we all knew it was Spider-man. Other then that I think the movie was real great except for the ppl sitting in front of us who were really rude.
It's pretty easy, I mean just go kill a dragon, get laid.

Thanks. :) Unfortuantely I was beaten to my first choice by Beldin. Swedish Chef is still good though.

As for spidey, I just heard it made over $100m at the US boxoffice in it's first weekend. Apparently a lot of people think it's good.
