Internet explorer question

Post by Ned Flanders »

I have stumbled into a problem with internet explorer 6. It seems a fool was allowed to sit at my home computer with the SO's permission in my abscence. If I would have come home and seen this, celestial fury would've removed his hands.

Anyway, this chap, let's call him chip, seemed to fancy my window sizes inconvenient and resized them. Now, whenever a link opens up in a new windows, I need to stretch or 'maximize' the window in order to read any of the content contained within. Previously, the new windows opened to the default full window. Anyone know how to change this back, I can't seem to find any options in the tools--->Internet options tab. thanks.

btw, if you see chip, make sure you attempt to extract a lot of pain over a long period of time. thanks

I think that IE6 keeps the size of the previous windows before you close it. If you want IE to open in full screen, open IE maximize it and the close the window, the next time you open an IE window it should be maximized. Hope that helps :)

demis,

thanks but that doesn't seem to cure the problem. in previous versions of IE, it was possible in the tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browser options to set the 'open in new window' size. I can't find that option anywhere. :( :o

Try this:

Open up IE, Maximize it, Close it right away.

Reload, it should be max screen. This works for me when stupid sites deactivate the status bar.

You could also try to right-click Intenet Explorer icon, select Properties, then Shortcut settings and set Run to maximised

@BGFan,

keep digging around there, you should find a newer more comprehensive IE security update from earlier this month or from late march.
