Rope? (Spoiler)

I am currently at the underwater city and I'm just about to go into the underdark, however, it says I need a rope to go down the little hole. Am I supposed to have the rope by now? Have I lost it? Where am I supposed to get it. If I am supposed to work it out myself, only give my clues to try and find its whereabouts, okies?

You must finish the plot line in the city to get out. See the walkthrough in the BG2 section here at GB for the details.

I did. I killed the prince and took his heart to the king who rewarded me with powerful magical items and then he sent me on my way! Without any rope?

He should have given you the rope, but have a look next to him there should a treasury , if you open it it might be there.

Do what I did:

1. "Yeah yeah, Mr. Prince, I`ll kill him for sure"
2. Pickpocket Prince #1. Loot treasure chamber.
3. "Yeah yeah, Mr. (ms?) Priest, I won`t kill him"
4. Pickpocket Priest.
5. Go get Cloak of Reflection or whatever it`s called.
6. Go to Drow city and get tooth of Sekolah.
7. Go to second Prince.
8. "Yeah, yeah, Mr. Prince, I`ll kill him for sure"
9. Pickpocket Prince #2.
10. Descend to Underdark with the rope.
