probs with bg2 and bg2 tob win2k

Post by axel_the »

I've installed all the patches, the win2k stuff.
This is my pc:
AMD Athlon 500 Mhz
128MB RAM
Winfast Geforce 32MB
24X CDROM

The prob is:
When I start the game, everything is perfect, I get to the menu where I start either BG2 or TOB. When I select one of them, I get to their menus, everything seems ok.
But, when I select "New Game" on either one, it loads halfway, then I get an error-sound and the screen turns black. I have to use the ctrl-alt-delete command and shutdown the game. I've reinstalled the game 3 times now. It's always the same problem. It'd be great if anyone could help me.

Sounds more like a hardware problem than BG specific. What Direct X have you got and what soundcard? it might be worth running a DX diagnostic. Point your exporer at Program Files-->DirectX-->setup(probably depending on version)-->dxdiag.exe, see what that tells you :)

If it crashes during loading maybe some of the files are corrupted or unaccessable. When the error occur try to minimize it (alt+tab) to see if there is an error message back to your desktop, to find the cause. Just a thought :)

The install might not have gone correctly in the first place. You could check you CDs for scratches/flecks of dirt that might have corrupted the install.

Have you tried putting all the data on the hard disk (full install)
