I often thought about it and I'm probably gonna do it next time. GM in staves plus two-handed weapon style should be an awful combination, especially with all those staves to chose and switch between, like staff of the magi and staff of the ram (ToB).

It's also the weapon that allows dual classing to any other class.

My dualed fighter/mage (solo) Dualed at level 9 i believe, had every stat in staff's or 2handed weapon.

Works great!!!

The staff of the magi can only be wielded by a mage. It's the same with all good staves.

I beg to differ, while a significant proportion of the 'special purpose' staffs are class restricted Staff of Thunder and Lightning and in particular thye Uber staff - Staff of power, The staff of Ryhn -Straight +4 - no fancy extras - is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. A fighter GM'ed and protected/asissted can take down mighty foes like Kangaxx without busting a sweat. Also you can 'buy' it straight out of Irenicus's dungeon from Ribald Barterman. It is also of course (unlike the Uber staff) a valid backstab weapon (For the fighter dualed to thief). Don't dis the staff. - Curdis !

If you have ToB installed (Watchers Keep), you can get the arguably best weapon in BG2, Staff of the Ram... and it can be used by anyone :D

Start with Rhynn +4, replace later with Magi and Ram. Another nice aspect of two handed weapons is that can always keep a ranged weapon equipped. And guess what, I will choose darts.

try having fighter mage have staff of magi in slot one and staff of ram in slot two.

you have holy avneger!!!bwahahahah!!
use magi to punch thru stoneskins and other combat prot with magi, in greater whirlwind and then finish with ram....

also staff of thunder and lightning will cast lightning stike indoors!!!

I personally have my kensai sorc use holy avneger all the time, the crucial 50% magic resist makes for a killer char..

uneqipp robe of vecna and amulet of power and ring of gaxx after reload, youve got 75% magic resist!!

I created, but have not played yet, a Neutral Evil kensai with granmastery in staves. Of course, I named him Darth Maul and gave him a nice snarling picture, using SK to change his skin color to red. Too bad Maul was so laconic in the movie. It would get boring to listen to the same 5 lines all through BG2... He must have the Ring of the Ram too, for the "force-push"
Until you gather money for Staff of Rynn, the Staff-Maces/Spears will do good.

I of course, have already sold my soul to the dark side of the force, nope, rats, already sold my soul to rock and roll, must have sold something else, oh yeah, my sense of rythem!!!

I'm korean, so cant dance anyway...

the diff between a sorc and kensai is

kai and thaco bonuses and attacks per round, all of which can be edited, you have a killer char, capable of using holy avenger with use any item, holy avenger is too good for goody goody paladins...
