I have a Soundblaster Live 5.1... I was trying to play an old "King's Quest" game, but in the setup it kept telling me it could detect no soundblaster card, even though the live card comes with soundblaster 16 emulation... Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it? I have already tried checking the address of the card.
I'm going to move this over to the Tech Support category, where (hopefully) somebody can help you.

How old a version of King's Quest do you have? Is it for DOS or Windows? If it is for DOS, the setup may not detect the Soundblaster16 emulator because the emulator drivers are for Windows, while the hardware shows a Soundblaster 5.1 card.

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.
First of all, thanks Fable! Didn't see that category... Also, it would be King's Quest 5, which is for windows. I think the problem may be with the sb16 emulation, which probably isn't of the best quality. Maybe I'll just buy a 486, it can't be more then 75 dollars for a system of that age...
@Youghford I see you are from the Land of the Mole-People. That sounds really great! I definetily have to come there for a visit some day! Can you give me directions, how do I find there?!?
Back to the topic; what OS are you running (95/98/ME/2k/XP)?

SB 16 emulator does not load in either win2k and winME as far as i know and i definetely doubt it on Win XP.

98, but it's moot point now. It's strange but yesterday I popped in the kq5 cd just for kicks, and it worked! I suppose I must have done SOMEthing, but I have no clue as to what it was.
