Ranger/Cleric is pretty good.
Kensai/mage is a killer combo,
same goes for my faforite: Kensai/Thief!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

SORRY

I thought you meant dual-class.
Some very powerfull multi-class combinations, are in my opinion:

Fighter/Thief
Mage/Cleric (Ultimate Spellcaster (and low AC cause of shield))
Ranger/Cleric (Druid/Cleric spells)
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

F/T and C/T are good choices.

F/T is great fun and also a quite powerful fighter.
C/T combines two "must have" classes and leaves you with more options concerning the choice of other party members.

Having a thief as main characters makes the game even more fun IMHO because the thief runs the risks, especially at low levels.

dont forget thje illusionist/thief or the good ol' mage/thief. Think of it! if you solo the skinner quest, slavers and do the druid quest with cernd, you will be 10/11 or 10/12 after it! then once you start ToB....time stop and meteor swarm (is that what its called?) then you hit them with abi dhalzims etc etc....best thing....you ARE the arch mage and you ARE the party theif :D :D :D of course....balthazar is a pain! damn lunar stance! got me just about every time....

I totally agree with stilgar.
I can not overephasize enough the beauty of the Cleric/Mage!!!

and although i havnt tried it yet i'd imagine a druid/mage might be good too.

I guess you will have to look up the manual for that.

BTW, Fighter/Mage/Thief is a good combo either in party or solo.
Fighter/Cleric are just too easy. I suppose F/M/C will also be pretty good...

Cleric / Mage is my favourite combo for BG2, and the other is

Fighter/ Mage/ Thief. But when you you choose a a multi-class with more than two classes, your character progresses too slooooooow --especially if you do have a party of six like me.
 :D

Cheers

Well met, all.
Isn't the Kensai/Thief multi class mode pretty cheesie itself? Both the Kensai and the Thief gets dexterity bonuses right? Anyway, it's just a thougt. I've never used it.
