font gone batty

Post by Ned Flanders »

I don't know what I did. Didn't voluntarily change any options, however, all game banshee text now appears three times its original size. It is horribly irritating and must be fixed asap. Pardon me posting this everywhere but I need an answer now. forgive my impatience.

so, any ideas. I don't know what happened and opening a new browser and going to game banshee doesn't fix the problem. It's almost as if the default font lettering size has simply changed.

Is just on GameBanshee or on any WWW page?

If it's happening for all of your IE or Netscape pages, go to the menu bar and click View>Text Size and try altering the sizes to get them back where they were.

Have you messed with your display settings? That sometimes changes your font sizes, too. Right-click on the desktop, click on Properties, then click on the Settings Tab, then the Advanced button. Under the General tab, there should be a box for Font Size with a click-down menu for the various sizes.

If the fonts are only wacko on GameBanshee's webpage, I don't know what to tell you; they look fine on my machine. Maybe PM Buck or post something on the new Technical Support forum.

HLD,

no, it is only on game banshee pages. that is what is driving me nuts. I actually shut this machine down and brought it back online on to be stuck in the same rut. It is only affected on gamebanshee.com. I have never seen anything like this and I can't find an option anywhere in my profile that allows me to select a font size. I'm losing my mind, this problem is consuming me as it makes no sense.

So it affects all of gamebanshee.com, not just the forums? And nothing else one the WWW, say ESPN.com or realjanine.com is changed, right?

I have never heard of anyone having a problem like this before; I'd PM some of our other tech gurus (ie-Buck, Mr Sleep, Yshania, et al) and see if this is something endemic to the website or if you're the only lucky one to have this problem.

I went through and starting tweaking various options on size within Internet explorer. I got the problem although a cause as to how it happened is beyond me. If I were to have exhibited a little more patience, I would have figured it out without taking up your time, HLD, and scamming all these free posts. :D

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but if you'd wanted patience, you'd be a doctor, right? Thank you very much. I'm here until Thursday. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

I'll dismiss that as a rhetorical question.

Ah drat. Busted. What else am I supposed to do as a network administrator running the perfect network. I've nothing to do unless something breaks so I've allowed myself to be sucked into the banshee. I always wondered how one could attain so many posts and now I know what it takes. free time, lots of it.

HLD,

I'd upload your tip but it would get me into trouble. Man, that sounds bad. :D

@HLD thanks for the reference, though I still argue I am not a Sleepy style guru - you have to know things to achieve that status! :D

@Ned, thanks for your PM - despite my being being modest, and unsure as to whether my advice would work, I am glad I was able to eventually help ;) :D :p *laughs*

Now, where's my glass of shine? ;)

@ Ned, if you have a scroll mouse the problem may be that you accidently held Control down and wheeled the mouse upwards, that causes a font change and I've done it loads of times.... :)

Thankyou for the complement :) As BS said i only know all these things because i have screwed them up in the past :D

@Ned Re:Freetime, it is interesting to note then that i am on 8000 :D Seriously though most of my posts were (and are ;) ) spam and i don't usually get involved in serious debates because i don't have enough freetime, when i am working in the office i can't just post away all day, i make the odd nonesense comment and then get back to work ;)

But how long do you spend working after you 'get back to work' before you make another 'odd nonsense comment,' ne? ;)

Strange, sometimes my computer does that too. Looks like Tahoma size 16 or maybe 14.

It's very weird and somewhat aggravating

I'm embarrased this ever happened to me, let alone confused me. And now someone has to ressurect the topic.

While we're on the subject, the culprit here is under the 'view' option on the main toolbar. You go to text size and change things there. Does anyone know the keyboard shortcut for getting this done. It is what must have happened to me in the past and I'm guessing it happened to craig also.
