New improved Ilasera...Geez

I just tried making a new game and importing the pregenerated character "Abdel."

Using the standard items they give you, and employing the "New Improved Ilasera and party" he dies in 3 rounds whether he changes to the slayer or not.

As a new game character he has no party and no way of getting one till he gets by Ilasera.

Exactly how is a fighter supposed to get by this one? I'm sure you could hack it with Shadowkeeper and give yourself some mondo items, or run around for a while till they ran out of spells, but still...

Anyone got any ideas for this one?

If you read the warning that comes with the improved battle, you should see that having it installed when starting a new ToB character is not recommended. Without a party, you will get killed. If you persist in this masochism, try just concentrating on Illasera, as when she dies everyone else runs off I think. Just use everything and anything you can find in your Bag of Holding, especially potions.
