Red Robed Mage in Nashkel Maybe Spoilers.

Post by Pellinore »

There is a strange red robed mage in Nashkel who approaches by the Temple. Can't remember his name. It isn't Edwin. He confronts me, I kill him and then he goes boom. He doesn't come very often. Who is this guy?

One of the "Easter Eggs" (hidden surprises) in BG1 is in the cemetary in Nashkel.

Most, if not all, of the tombstones have inscriptions, many of them are humorous. There is one of them (can't remember which) that is in-between the path to the temple and the guards barrack that is special. IIRC should you click twice on that one, the guy in the red robe appears and tell you to stop doing that or he will be forced to kill you. If you do it again he will send some Phoenix Guards after you. Can't remember if he attacks too.

That's Daer'Ragh, a lvl 9 CN Human Mage.
Ah, ye fools, ye really shouldn't have disturbed my grave site. It was not easy faking my own death and I'll not have it ruined by your meddling! Face ye your own death and the hell-flames that go with it!
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

He does not. But Pheonix Guards will spawn whenever you click on the grave afterwards.

Ah thanks! Been awhile seen I played BG1 and even longer since I did that encounter.

Seems the gray matter from my brain must leaking out, my hair is starting to be dyed that color.

I have said this before also, but if you charm that fella before he summons the phoenix guards, you can control the guards. even if you dont use them, its still really cool.
