Just curious to see what parties you have played with and had fun playing...
I'm in a conundrum right now as I'm playing a spirit healer so I can party with Dog (dps) and Leliana (rogue/romance interest) (instead of me as rogue dps and Morrigan as dps mage/romance) just to change it up. Doing the mage tower right now and forgot Wynne Spoiler
is also a spirit healer
so trying to do two SH's in the party. Nobody should die..lol.
My original party was:
Alister (Tank)
Hero (rogue/dps)
Morrigan (mage/dps)
Wynne (healer)
It's really limited in who you can use and what class you can be to tie those members in. Any thought to an all dps party, all mage party (well, three at least). Also, anyone use the Dog as a tank...how does he hold up there?
Dog doesn't do bad as a tank, but there are better ones out there (note: in Witch Hunt, he does better). I try to get his STR & Con up, tho.
Cleansing Aura (4th tier Spirit healer ability) ONLY affects allies. Wynne doesn't get the benefit of it's healing unless there is a second Spirit Healer also using Cleansing Aura (Most notable effect: It removes persistant injuries).
My current Party:
Theron: (Dalish Elf Origin) Archer/rogue (typical Hunter)
Alistair: Tanking
Leliana: Backup archer, does slightly better with locks
Wynne: Healer
Dog*:Backup tank
Did try to swap around with different characters in certain places, but the combination above is the one I used in the majority of my playthrough. I also use the Dog companion mod, despite some bugs in certain parts of the game.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price
TBH, I have always preferred party flexibility. I like to mix it up depending on what I play as.
I always have a mage and a rogue in my party (if I am not one of either), I use the extra Dog slot mod as he is great to have (set him to either defend your mage or attack nearest visible Mage) it can be a lifesaver.
But my favorite characters to take are:
Shale - because of his versatility- can change between Tank, Ranged and Support.
Morrigan or Wynn - I think Morrigan has wasted points in Shapeshift which is a pretty useless ability later in the game.
Oghren as a tank - Berserker can be very useful and any two handed fighter with Indominatable is a must - especially when facing down an Ogre.
Leiliana - as she is usually the only ranged specialist in my party - not necessary if you play as a Battle-Mage or Ranged Rogue.
Dog - for reasons given above.
Two wrongs don't make a right... but three lefts do!
If beauty is in the eye of the bee-holder, then why are hives considered unattractive features?
PC mage (bloodmage/sh)
Morrigan (shapeshifter/sh)
Wynne (bloodmage/sh)
Shale in stone aura for trash and bosses, tanking for Caulthrien, High Dragon and the Circle of Magi boss.
