Have had fun with many different party combinations over the years. But, I just learned something really interesting with my newest party, that I hadn't seen before in any of my many games. My party's diplomat is a bard. I had never had a character with more than a scant few levels of bard mixed in before. My bard is presently 8th level (I confess that she has a few squatted ones to use yet as I didn't really need her while my leader did the battle squares and the XP kept piling up).
We just hit the Wandering Village and I had her in the first slot so she could do the talking. I decided to go ahead and talk to the Barrow Wight before entering the village. Lo and behold, she had a conversation option I had never seen before. She could offer to sing to the Barrow Wight a song in his honor. After doing so, the Wight was appeased and left. Didn't have to go get his horn in the Fell Wood.
I checked the walkthrough and this method of resolving that quest is not mentioned. I'm sure many others had discovered this long ago, but it does reflect how I seem to always find new things in this game. One of the reasons I love this game and come back to play it frequently.
