Gems any use in MotB?

I don't want to find out I need them for something like item crafting, like in the main campaign. (I know I don't them for that here, but still...)

P.S.: Is it normal I enjoy MotB more than the OC?

From what I remember, NO.

MOTB is a bit less like "work", so it can be a bit more fun. The shorter length is also better.
