Lost their voice

I've (very slowly) been playing a single game of Baldurs starting from SoA for over a year now- social life and work permitting- and am a little distressed that none of the NPCs are saying anything anymore, their character developments being the primary reason for me to continue into ToB.
Viconias romance continued for about two conversations before dissapearing, reappearing for Gorion's scene and maybe one more conversation about me being selfish for picking her over godhood. The Vockmeister (er are we still not allowed to spoil the "new" NPC for people?) has literally had one conversation and I thought he would be a compelling addition to the plot.
I've heard that having an npc die or get petrified "resets" them and cancels romances and speech but mine have yet to die. My question is whether there is a way bring out their more talkative sides, or is it a case of going right back to my final save and starting ToB again :speech:

On a totally different note has anyone had a weird (solved by me) bug when going straight from the end of SoA to ToB where half my party stayed in the congratulations party at Suldanesanelfycity (sp) and couldn't unite with the other half hanging out at the Mysteron heads in the woods. Scared the bejesus out of me until I just imported a previous save, but damn that must have been a hell of a party boom boom

could sound like you have been playing alot of real life hours on this game.
for the banters between NPC's you might simply have "run out" if you have been trough all of them. (most npc's dont repeat their banters so)
as for the romance, during TOB you need to reach special "points" in the story before a romance will go on, it might be that your romance is staaling because you arent far enough in the story for it to go on.
