What exactly does Bound do?

Post by Ragin Cajun »

I see several of the Bound type spells for sale at the mages guild. What exactly do these do?

They create the relevant item and equip it on you. They are pseudo Daedric items, i.e they look like Daedric but aren't quite as good, with the exception of the Bound Sword, which is actually better if anything. They all have zero weight, but they can't be unequipped, unless you exploit the glitch which actually allwos you to not only drop them, but make them permanent rather than disappearing when the spell ends.

There are Rune Stones scattered around Cyrodil that create bound items for you as well. Some of them are different each game, the one near Bleak Flats Cave for instance will generate a Claymore if blade is a major skill, otherwise it'; be a war axe, The stones also create a piece of armour as well as a weapon. the Bleak Flats Cave one creates a Cuirass, which will be better than anything you're likely to find until at least 15th level. The rune Stone items are also subject to the exploitable glitch.

The glitch explained Spoiler, hilight to read:
Spoiler
If the armour or weapon gets damaged, you can repair it, this allows you to drop the item, and as long as you don't pick it up until after the spell runs out, it will become permanent. If your armorer skill is 75 or higher of course it doesn't even have to get damaged. A weightless Daedric Claymore is not to be sniffed at , but it is a bit cheesy. Be warned though, the armour still nerfs your spell casting.
