Good Axes in Divine Divinity?

Post by GawainBS »

Can anyone recall if there are good Axes in the game? Are they worth taking Axe Mastery over Sword Mastery? Won't you miss the added + to hit from Sword Mastery?

Thanks in advance!

I seem to recall The Axe of Maiming, and I think there was named The Slasher. But like everything else in the game, much of the quality of an item is up for grabs depending on the luck of the draw. You may get a reasonable decent item, or the same thing may be loaded with extras.

Personally, I'd stick with swords, but in any case, find one type of weapon and strive for high mastery with that.

I'm also worried that most decent axes are twohanded...

Well, yes, as I recall. But again, I didn't bother much with them. I worked up my sword skill.

Seems like I'll be sticking with swords then. Thanks.

There are several quality axes on the slasher level of the catacombs - most are too powerful for you to use when you first get them. But yeah, the game rewards sword and dagger users over the other weapons.

I went with bows on my completion. The Elemental Arrow was nice.

P.S. - I'm disappointed that GoG has a version of this game that will never be provided to people who bought it a long time ago.

I already played an Archer. I've noticed that good onehanded Axes are few and far in between.
