Broken Steel Query

Just a quick question, and one I'm pretty sure I know the answer to anyway but still: I've just started the Broken Steel quests and was planning to work my way through the full set but then I had a niggle. The game DOES stay open ended once you complete the quest doesn't it? I mean it doesn't finish like at the original ending.
I'm almost certain that's the case but you know what it's like when you start thinking about stuff...

You can keep playing after you finish the Broken Steel quests.

The last quest of Broken Steel actually doesn't have an end.

What with the eternal search for certain items to rebuilt the robot, it counts as un-ending.
