I'm thinking of converting Deru in a Blood Assassin. My main character is a FoS, Lothar a Combat Mage and Taar a Nature Mage. Would this be a wise decision?
More importantly: I've read that to use a Blood Assassin to good effect, you have to "mark" different enemies before using your powers. Is this true? Doesn't it hurt to have to spread out your attacks instead of concentrating on taking down opponents one at a time? (Hence reducing the damage they inflict?)
Are there other things I should be aware of when making a Blood Assassin?
I used a blood assassin but didn't bother to mark anything, and it still worked fine. The hybrid classes give lots of advantages and while having very few disadvantages, and so they're worth using.

Sir Edmund:"Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?" Me:"It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."
One more question: are you better off with bows/crossbows or with thrown weapons?
I'm quite eager to try out a Blood Assassin now that I know they can be played "normally".
Thunderous Shot was my favorite power in the game, so I always used bows. Otherwise I think the damage is fairly balanced, and so you should play whichever one you like better.

I think bows are better because of the increased range. My first blood assassin used thrown weapons, which I regret, because she was too close to the action, drew enemies' attention easier, and was harder to keep alive.
