Major Problems!!!!!!!

Ok
First off I love this game.
But i have experienced a constant freezing.
I can play sometimes for as long as 2 to 3 hours with no problem.
But sometimes (mostly) i begin and after just a few minutes it freezes on me.
I have done the following.
Updated all drivers, sound, graphics etc.
Updated to 1.30 i had the same problems with all versions.
Disconnected my internet connection and disabled my anti virus(zone alarm)
I recently tried disabling unnessacary servives and start up items.
None of the above helped.
Now i tried the game tonight and my level 17 character has dissapeared with out trace.The file is still in my documents folder but does not show up in game anymore.
Like i said i love this game. Even with all the trouble i have had, i have been able to get to level 17.
But i am about to give up on this.
Please help if anyone has any suggestions.
Also i have tried turning down video options.But with no effect.
In fact the game freezes when there is very little happening on screen.
This maybe a clue. When it freezes it is ALWAYS acompanied by a high pitch whistle sound through the speakers?

Hey man I had the exact same problem... I lost a level 41.. I tried for ever to get him back eventually i just made a new char.. after a while I made another char and decided to name it the same name as the one I lost... After I did that he reappeared instantly... so try that and tell me if it worked... I also have problems of freezing.. how long do you wait before you just ctrl-alt-del.. because I dont know if we have the same problem here too but mine normally just goes back to normal after a while.. But yeah just try and remake a char with the same name as the one you lost and tell me if that works.

I will try that tonight.As far as freezing it happens at any time, i could be playing for hours no problem.Then the next day at the same settings it freezes in just a few minutes?I have tried ctrl alt del, but that will not do anything i have to force the computer to shut down and restart.
I am dissapointed i don't usually play these types of games and i thought i would give it a go.But i will perservere because i like it so much.
I tried Half life 2 last night, that no kidding, gives me motion sickness!!!!!

Wow Dude it works!!!!
I entered the same name in create a character and PRESTO!! There he was.
Thanks for that, now i just have to figure out why this game freezes on me.I was even thinking about purchasing immortal throne to see if that helped at all?

Do you have the patches (up to 1.30)? Maybe something in the patches would help?
