What to expect

Post by Rob-hin »

I just borrowed the game from a friend (who is on a holiday right now so can't ask him anything)

And to be quiet frank, I dissapointed. right now I was getting needles and some potion for a women (and the game just turned itseve off) but the gameplay is to boring I think, or will this get better.
Should I go on or not waste my time?

Thanx,
Rob-hin

That depends on what you want from a game, if you are looking for action then Planescape is not really the game for you, if however you want an interesting and compelling storyline, believable characters and fantastic cutscenes then planescape can be just what you are looking for :) .

The first few hours of Planescape can be ponderous, but give it time and the game grows on you :)

What I forgot to ask: since this game uses the same engine as BG, is there a update available so PT can be played in 800x640?

And about that little fighting, I remember my friend saying it's possible to play the game for an hour or 3 and not get in a fight at all, is this true?

Thanx

No, unfortunately there were not enough sales of Planescape for it to be financially viable for the expansion necessary to upgrade it to 800x600 :(

Probably, although you can get randomly attacked by the thugs on the streets after you exit the motuary.

@Rob-hin, I think your friend is exaggerating just a bit. There is one good-sized area you can fight through or use for puzzle-solving, but it's the only one like it in the game. When I went through the puzzles, they took about forty-five minutes. Elsewhere, your diplomatic skills can prevent an occasional important conflict, but you're usually offered the option of being aggressive, if you'd prefer.

Planescape has a bit of everything in it. I never once found it lacking in terms of action, and it always made me think. I beleieve it is the epitomy of CRPG.

If you go for high intelligence, you'll generally receive options that allow going around combat; but they're just options. Fight fests are always possible, if that's your metier. :)

If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach
