Removing my virus caused problems...

Post by Sain »

Ok, when I removed my computer virus, all of my infinity engine games got screwed up, bad. BGII doesn't let me auto or quick save. IWD:HoW reverts to the point where I was before I removed the virus.(Deja-Veux from level-5 of the dragon's eye in IWDII)

*Edit-Fixed it accidentally, somehow*

When is the last time you reformatted your pc? Unless i am mistaken, computers tend to run into a lot of errors and bugs when their registry or data files gets cluttered, i.e. when you haven't been maintaining or reformatting your system for some time.

Reformatting requires the use of your OS cd to do a clean install of windows. Doing so will naturally wipe your hard drive clean, so it is best to make back-ups of data files you do not want to use. There are plenty of guides online that teach you how to reformat a hard drive, step-by-step, but you may also want some assistance from a tech if you really don't know what you are doing. :p

Heh, I hope I'll be able to appriciate the irony of this after I come up with a way to fix it. Well,I don't want to a clean install unless I have to. Until hope is lost, I'm going to fiddle around with reinstall, patching, etc.
