Guess who's coming to dinner!

Post by Vehemence »

If you could choose two people in the world past or present, who would they be?

My two choices would be:

Alicia Silverstone and Mel Brooks. :)

Firstly, I'm a guy, so that's my reason for Alicia! :D

But Mel Brooks is, to me, the greatest comedy director of all time! :) My favourite movie is History of the world and Robin Hood Men in tights is still a classic! :D
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

2nd. Bill Gates :D

Why??

1st. He was one mean SOB. :D

2nd. Possible plot to take over Microsoft. :D With my first guest there it's a sure bet Bill will not be leaving owning anything. :D

I would have Hitler & Stalin over.

I would then punish them with foul-tasting shrimp starters, farty bean casserole with extra chicken giblets and over-ripe soggy bananas for dessert.

Then I'd beat them both to death with the soup tureen. :D

Philosophers Karl Popper and Ludvig Wittgenstein
I'd love to hear an extended version of their famous conflict!

For talking and about boys:
Queen Elizabeth I of England (and VI of Scotland) and
Oscar Wilde

Well let's see it's the Canada Day Weekend so I'll be patriotic.
the late Pierre Elliott Trudeau, because he embodied much of what Canada means to me.

and his son Justin, who is a real babe...tall, dark and handsome (not to mention smart and eloquent)....just the way I like em. ;)

Chief Crazy Horse - to find out, how they really took down Custer.

I'll have to have several dinners, I'd also like a conversation with Dadaist artist Marcel Duchamp and philosopher/writer Umberto Eco.

I am not very politically minded (normally!) but I would love to have Winston Churchill and Tony Blair, just to see the wit of the elder wipe of the inane grin of the younger. ;)

i.e

woman to Churchill "Sir you are drunk!"
Churchill to woman "Woman - you are ugly - tomorrow I will be sober!"

woman to Churchill "Sir, if you were my husband I would poison your coffee!"
Churchill to woman "Woman - if you were my wife I would drink it!"

:D :D

extension - looking for possible Churchill retorts... ;)

Blair to Churchill "Sir - I question your politics on Europe - we should be considering a united front"

my thoughts...

Churchill to Blair "Sir - with respect - the only united front your generation will understand are the products of Wonderbra"

Ummm, like CE, I need many parties to invite all of my favourite (or not) people... And most of them are not known to other people, so I cannot post here (I don't want to give you lectures :D ).

Okay, here is a pair: David Trimble and Jerry Adams. I have a keen interest in Northern Ireland. :)

Hmmm. Shakespeare and Ben Jonson, I suppose. After all, I'm curious about 'em both, and we speak (more or less) the same language.

Now, if you'd be kindly enough to provide automatic translation facilities, I'd probaby opt for Herodotus and Cleopatra. :)

@Fable: I would guess you will have to refrain mr Johnson from constantly teasing Shakespeare for his lack of knowledge in Latin and Greek :D

@Minerva: Don't worry about people not knowing who your guests are. I, for instance, have no idea who either of Leedoggs guests are :o
