Ok, i tried downloading a couple of mods to see what they were like. One I tried was one to make Balmora bigger. All of it went as planned but when I tried to play the game I got this message at the loading screen, before the main menu comes up: "One or more of the plug-ins could not find the correct versions of the masters they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play." Then it tells me to go to the warnings page thing, which I did and it just told me what I already knew.
Then, when I chose to ignore the warning I played the game, everything was fine, until I got to Balmora where I got several messages like this: "Sound file not found:datafiles\souns\GBG_regulars\Gigue.wav"
I know very little about computers, and I am at a loss as to what to do to rectify the problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

Those errors are quite normal when adding mods, and usually they can be ignored.
It sounds though as if all of the files were not placed properly. I use Balmora Expanded myself, and I have no trouble with it...
People tend to be quite varied in this, but personally, I find that manual installation is the easiest and most sure fire way of avoiding any problems..

Sometimes the problem "One or more of the plug-ins could not find the correct versions of the masters they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play." you described can be overcome by running the Construction Set that comes with the game, loading the mod in question and saving it again; this simply registers the mod with the version you're running no need to actually change anything in the mod.

Not unless you're using texture replacement mods. Those usually come without any ESP to activate--they just replace other textures you've already got. Usual rule of thumb is the larger the textures, the slower the fps, but if you have a relatively decent machine and good RAM, you shouldn't notice the difference.Benk wrote:I would also like to know if having mods installed, but not active, will still affect your fps.
In any case, I would suggest copying your data/textures subdirectory, so if the game slows after adding texture replacements, you can always swap back.
