Got an opinion on this particularly involuted mess? Post it here!
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I'll sit quietly too. This is one of those subjects that I always think "I should know more about this," but then I only have enough time in the mornings to check the baseball scores and read the comics. But I'm convinced I'm not an idiot, despite what other people say.
Go on, elucidate me.
Go on, elucidate me.
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.
this just shows that we that we don't pay attention to the news, cause i didn't even know that anything was going on.Originally posted by Gwalchmai:

This has been a SPAM AND RUN by Leedogg
My remarks are not meant as a put down on either country

As for the US trying to tell Israel how to use the airplanes that the US sold to them, I believe it's not any of the USA's business once something is sold. If the US didn't want the planes to bomb people, they shouldn't have sold them in the first place. (I haven't seen all the reports yet)
The conflict between Israel and Palestine is a subject I will not comment on now. Both sides have their good parts and bad parts.

I generally agree with you weasel - but I would say it like this.
I always belive that you have the right to tell other people what you think - it is up the the other part to decide whether or not they will listen/accept it.
I don't think however that the US can decide for Isreal what they can or can not use the planes for, after the purchase, but they can tell them what they think.
There is the different of control and dialog.
If the US did not talk against this use, they could create the oppinion that they were okay with it. So it is very much politcal.
(IMHO)

Oh for goodness sake!
This is SYM, not CNN. If you have an opinion, express it. It will not go on record, or be used against you in a future political campaign. Keeping quiet about the Israel/Palestine conflict will not make the problems there disappear. And even if our discussion becomes heated, at least we learn something about the contrary POV that we didn't understand before.
In my opinion, the Palestinians were settled on the land before the Jews took it by force, and as such have no right to the land any more than the Japanese do.

Hmm - as for the conflict, I haven't the knowlegde to state who has the right to the land, but IMO I don't think there will ever be peace until one of these nations is destroyed.
There is to much hatred for anything to work between them.
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so - sad, but true.
