The most powerful bug... EVER

Post by Fyren »

Ok, so I've beaten Arcanum countless times, however it is still one of my favorite games to date. Recently I have discovered a glitch in the game that allows you to win nearly every fight with ease.

WARNING: Don't do this if you haven't beaten the game already... it'll ruin stuff for you. I just found it interesting and wanted to share it.

First, you need to be a fairly high level magic character with the following spells: Reflection Shield, Control Beast and Invisibility. The last one is optional, I'll explain later. You'll also need enough intelligence to maintain at least 2 spells.

When you get to Qintarra and take the the quest to remove the humans from Falcon's Ache, go ahead and do things normally as you would to complete the quest. When the quest is finished approach one of the animals and use Control Beast on it. Next, target your new animal companion and cast Reflection Shield on it. Now you should be maintaining two spells. Release the Control Beast spell. Since Reflection Shield is still active releasing the spell will not affect the creatures loyalty. Next, release the Reflection Shield. The animal will now be under your control permanently and with no negative effects on your fatigue.

Now, the really cheap part. The curse of Falcon's Ache follows your tamed beast. Anyone who attacks it will be instantly killed. This includes yourself and your party. Now, if you want you may cast Invisibility on yourself during a fight so that they attack the animal instead of yourself, and thus are killed because the animal is still sacred.

ok, upon further testing I have deduced that doing this is a bad idea. If ANYTHING hits the falcon's ache animal your entire party will die because you are responsible for the animal's safety.

However feel free to do the permanency trick with a different animal, or with any summoning spell or dominate will.
