SoZ and NWN2: patch?

Post by fable »

Does SoZ patch the original NWN2, or must the official NWN2 patch be loaded before installing the expansion pack?

In advance, thanks.

Installing and patching the original Nwn2 before the expansions was how I installed, although not intentionally. It didn't seem to bother it afterwards.

But the original install procedure is said to Install Nwn2 OC first, then Motb followed by Soz; then patch. But Im very sure the Soz patch patches all the games, and is followed by a few more patches.

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't see any requirement to install MotB on SoZ's box. Assuming I leave it out, for now (because of the revolting disk size the whole mess takes), I wonder how moving directly from the original game to SoZ should be handled, patch-wise?

Actually the official comment is:

If you don't have SOZ yet then use the auto-update for all the patches.

ONCE YOU GET SOZ - AGAIN use the auto-update for all the patches.

In effect SOZ does overwrite some of the latter patch material and needs to be "re-patched". ;)

I've been seeing that, myself. It appears that SoZ is not only buggy in itself, but creates bugs in MotB. At the moment, I'm just holding off on installing it, until the January SoZ bugfix patch.

True, however, the January Patch is already out in Beta.

To quote the SoZ development team:
Rich and I talked about it. We are going to go ahead with releasing a small patch in December to take care of some of the small things that cropped up with 1.21/SoZ.
So the beta patch out now isn't a full patch, just a small one.

EDIT: Having problems with the beta patch install, despite following instructions.
