some questions on enchanting armor

Post by silverdragon72 »

some questions on enchanting armor:

I have read, that you can enchant armor with e.g. fortify strength 12!

...for me even with a great soul gem (and a great soul in) I've never had the option for more then 10!

- btw. which monster have "great Souls"

- is there any soul gem, that can take souls of Dedras?

- does black soul gems give any bonus for enchanting / or can carry other souls?

- any chance to enchant armor with more then one effect?

Transcendent Sigil Stone

-Do you mean Grand Soul? Gloom Wraith, Goblin Warlord, Lich, Minotaur Lord, Storm Atronach, Xivilai

Or Greater Soul? Brown Bear, Daedroth, Dread Zombie, Frost Atronach, Goblin Shaman, Land Dreugh, Spider Daedra, Skeleton Champion, Wraith

-What do you mean?

-No,it's the same as Grand SG / It can carry human (NPC)'s soul

-No

P.S: you should change all "Great" to "Grand" in your post

thanks!

...don't have the english version of oblivion therefore the mistake with great / grand Soul gem!

ok, it depends of the type of Atronach! For some reasons I thought that I sometimes (not always) also get grand Souls from Daedroth...

With only one effect - does it make any sense to enchant armor? Found many good armor with several and higher effects meanwhile?

...anyway, only "storm/ice shield 25%" or "fortify magicky 50" seems to be helpfull?

...and for enchanting weapons Sigil Stones doesn't make any sense at all from my point of view!

Je vous en prie (kind of "thanks back"/"you're welcome" :) )

What version do you have?

Going to try my luck with them!

That's why I only use original items made by Bethesda...
And use my Sigil Stones as a "memorandum"

german one

maybe I find some use for them, at least for one or two pieces of armor...

...Sigil Stones should be a little more reward, than they are that way - and enchanting items is by far more useless then in Morrowind!

Armopur can be enchanted using Grand Soul gem to a max of 10 as you have noted. Whoever said 12 was wrong confusing Sigil Stones with enchanting with soull gems, the Sigil Stone that fortifies strength does indeed go up to 12.
- is there any soul gem, that can take souls of Daedras?
Yes, Black Soul gems, which as Master David pointed out also can trap Human[oid] souls. Otherwise they act the same as Grand Soul Gems or Azura's Star.

Unfortunately as MD has stated, no you can't put more than one enchantment on armour, clothes or jewelry. You're also very right, enchanting is far less powerful and useful than in Morrowind.

Someone Made A Mod.....

...... that is a quest type one, that addresses the enchantment issues. You do the quest and eventually have your own magical forge. It allows you to take enchanted items, and remove the enchantments, or replace them, and rename the item while you are at it. Or add new ones, to items with less than 4 enchantments. Supposedly you only had to fight your way through the guardian monsters just once and then it was yours forever. However for me, I had to do so each time! Then sometimes it wouldn't even activate! :( Admittedly, that was after having to remove it and then place it back, when I got an upgrade. The first installation had no problems, just the re-installations. But it came with new NPC's and it was fun while it lasted! :) So, if you're lucky enough to find it, try it at your own risk! ;)

hmm it seems evry time you reply, leo, that you end up mentioning a mod. anywho, i find some of the sigil stones very useful. For instance, on my Assassin char, the 25% chameleon is very usefull. :D Useless on armour though, i always use it on adverage clothing. Also the Fortify ... stones are usefull to me for i never make a mage char. But armor with previous enchantments is always better.

 I was noticing that too! I like the Sigil Stone with Feather 125 that makes diving off of Dive Rock survivable.
