SPOILERS!!! MotB - Question about the Slumbering Coven battle

I've reached the point where you choose whether to fight the Slumbering Coven hags or not. Having already read the walkthrough and seen that you can create the Eyes Of The Coven mask from the hags' essences, I decided to put them to sleep (metaphorically this time

). However, when I tried to Spirit Gorge them, it didn't work, claiming the hags are invalid targets (tried that on shapeshifted hags too). Why does this happen? My theory is that you have to possess the Devour Soul feat (which I don't), since hags don't really qualify as spirits. Is that true? If yes, it should be included somewhere in the walkthrough...

That's right. You need Devour Soul for Spirit Gorge to devour souls. This is part of the feat definition.
