Questions about Hit points *Spoilers

Post by sonny »

Each time TNO has leveled up, I have used the reload until I got what appeared to be the highest Hit Points I could get. I always got 9. However, this last time when he went from lev 7 to lev 8, try as I could with reloads, I could only get 1. His Hit points are 74. Is there a max, or am I missing something? :o

Thanks :) :) Sonny

I'm unsure, but I believe that after a certain level TNO only gains a single hitpoint per level. It's also possible that you're just having a bad luck streak.

However, my first suggestion does seem likely as the lowest die is d4, for a mage.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”

And if you're doing the load/reload game, you might as well just download the hitpoint mod here.

My tweak pack has a max hit point tweak as well.

After a certain point you do only get a certain set amount of hit points per level, but that doesn't happen till 10th level as a fighter and 11th level as a thief or mage, so that's not what's happening to you.

What must be happening is that you already hit 8th level as another class. You only get full hit points for the first class that reaches a given level. When your two other classes reach a level that has already been reached by another class, you only get 1 hit point for that level.

The number of hitpoints you can get at level up depends on your class. If you reach a new level you always get the hitpoints the current class would get according to the AD&D tables + con bonus.
But if you reach a level which you've already reached with another class you always get only 1 HP and no con bonus, it's similar to dualclassing in other games.

Thanks guys, that's what the problem was. After TNO reached level 7 and I picked up Dak' kon, I switched to a mage and stayed there until I reached level 9 as a mage and then switched back to my level 7 fighter. :o

I had intended to play through as a fighter, but then after picking up Dak' kon and talking to him, things started flowing almost like they had a life of their own and the next thing I knew I was a level 9 mage
I get so engrossed in the game (there's just so much dialog to read) I some times forget what I am :D

Thanks again :)
