Black Game Site

Why is that most game sites has that black them?

I'm afraid I don't quite follow you, @Al. Do you wonder why gamesites use the color black a great deal? If so, I suspect it's because they see it as part of role-playing. I know a very large and rather threatening man who owns a gaming store in DC. (He also used to a bouncer in bars.) Wears a silver skull for an earring. Dresses a lot in black. Very nice guy, though, in reallife, but if you didn't know him well, you'd think he was going to tear your arms off in opposite directions.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to figure out. Most game sites has that black background. I would make a game site that's total orange and yellow but I don't think it'd fit with the gaming committee. Even when I surf for fan sites, they make black drafts.

You're right, of course. And the gaming companies sell t-shirts with bad-ass logos on the front--as if the fact that you could twitch your finger on a keypad quickly qualifies you as a reallife merc.

The black thingy is meerly layout matters IMO.
The black background colour is easy on the eyes to read, and thereby the user of the site can stay longer, and read pages.
Futhermore it makes it easier to use different textcolours because most colours is visible on black.

Well, that's true to a point, but i would have to say the GameBanshee is easier to read with it's white on black and yellow on black writing than SOME pages i've seen, with their annoying red on black and grey on black. (of course, the QUALITY of the writing on GameBanshee is also superior

)

Well then imangine if thoese other sites were "black on red" instead of "red on black" - how long would you stay there?

The website of my cable ISP has a lightis green "neon"-like colour, and it is still represented on the page after it loads - I've never spent more than 2-3 minutes total on that site (well they don't have any decent info anyway

)

When I was at university one of my friends did a study into web design and found that it is easiest to read light colours on a dark background. That is why there is the use of white text on black for many web sites. Colours such as white and yellow and other bright colours tend not to work very well.
