US world cup draw

Post by JosephCSu »

US, Poland, South Korea, Portugal

England is screwed. They are in same group as Argentina, Sweden and Nigeria.

Well if the US takes point from Portugal - then they will really impress.
But still it looks like a somewhat "secure" 2nd position in the group :)

I wouldn't count against Poland, they are a good team with some solid players...

Argentina group is bloodly.

Brazil went to a very easy one, but even this way, because of the actual crap team, I don't think Brazil is one of the favorites.
[Sorry about my English]

Well - Brazil will always be counted as somewhat of a favorite, no matter how poor they play.
Brazil is - much like Germany - a "cup-team", they always get better further into the tournaments. :)

@Nippy: Yeah - Poland is "solid" but so are the US-team, they have move fast the last couple of years - and I'm actually quite excited in seeing how far they can get this time :D
(BTW almost all teams in a World Cup have somewhat good teams :) )

You lucky b*stard... ;)
Look at the group we (Sweden) made... :(
Argentina, Nigeria, England and Sweden...no doubt which group is by far the best in the World Cup... :) Still, I do think if we perform well we could still make it...(trying to be optimistic)... ;)
I tell you something though...the team that wins this group almost deserves to win the World Cup.

Hiya Karembeu :) Good to see you, I though that a football topic would flush you out :D :D

Yeah - Denmark could have had a much more difficult draw, but looking at the groups, your (swedish) group seems the only one that is "truly" hard, so maybe it's not "us" that have been lucky but "you" that have been unlucky :D

And BTW last world cup we beat Nigeria, so just do the same :D - then you're half way there :D

Your victory against Nigeria in the last World Cup was truly superb. The game against Brazil was also very close... Last time you played Uruguay in the World Cup I seem to recall you doing pretty well also...
I shouldn't complain about the draw too much though...there'll be some exciting games to look forward to...and I can't really say that anyone expects Sweden to make it through to the quarter-finals...that suits us pretty fine I think... Whereas your Denmark should be favourites to at least the second place in the group meaning that if they don't advance then you'll all be disappointed... ;)

I agree. Their goalie, Jersey Dudek, is one of the best.

(Bless Gerard Houllier for signing him with Liverpool :D )

US draw is brutal. Since most host countries historically have overachieved, I except US to lose to South Korea. US will lose to Portugal and probably draw with Poland. I am looking at 0-1-2 another first round exit. CONCACAF is a joke. It is the easist region to qualify. There shouldn't be 3 teams from that region until teams can prove they can compete in WC. There should be just one team IMO.

Yeah - we almost beat Brazil.
And IIRC last time we played Uruguay was in Mexico 1986 and we won like 6-0 or something :D

Well, yes if Denmark dosen't come in second I'm gonna beat all the players up myself :D
We, like you say with Sweden, like being the "underdogs" and our team dosen't play that good when counted as favorites :D
