Just started game, just arrived in Hive. As I did with BG & BGII, trying to play through with out looking at walkthroughs or spoiler threads, so I would like to ask this.
While reading the game manual (which I downloaded from 'replacement docs.com') I see referencences about spells, Mages and Thieves, but no info about how to be one.
I assume from reading this that TNO can change to a Mage or Thief. I don't want anyone at this point to tell me how, just if you can?
And if there's any advantage in doing so. I played through BG & BGII as a Fighter and never duel classed.
Thought I would try to get this settled before I got to far in the game.
Thanks

Yes, you can become either a mage or thief, if you so choose. I'll let you find out how.
One thing to note is that its not like dual-classing or multi-classing. You can be a fighter, a thief, or a mage, but only one at a time.
The advantages are more or less like how they are in other RPGs...pretty much, just choose the class that fits your play style while keeping in mind what balances your party.
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

OK, thanks Nightmare, that helps a lot. And thanks for no spoilers
I'm going to assume since I already have one person (or thing) in my party, and still have 4 empty slots, there are more people out there that will join my party. I will hold off and see if I get a Mage or Thief, and if so will probably play through as a fighter. It's going to be interesting
