I need a person that made an Impact on Canadian Society. He/She doesn't have to be Canadian, but must have made an impact on Canadian society.

Please give me ideas, as I'm sort of clueless to find a person.

How about the person who discovered Pennisilan(sp?). Or Wilfed Laurier, or whoever it was that formed an alliance with Metis natives of Red River Valley. those are just some ideas.

My pick would be either the aborigine(s) who invented the national summer sport (lacrosse), the greatest (ever) player of the national winter sport (Wayne Gretzky, hockey) or William Shatner, the single most influential singer/writer/director/actor/author/producer/horsebreeder/beauty-pageant host to ever come out of Canada.
