Envy

Post by C Elegans »

Envy is something we all have felt some time, some people more often than others, of course.

My question: What do you envy in other people? Their looks? Money? That they get all the gals/guys you's like to have? Their talents?

My next question: What do other people envy in you, if anything?

Erm....

I envy intellectual knowledge in others.

Not sure about the second one, still undecided, no one has ever said that i can recall.

I probably envy everything that other people can do well
or
looks and money an......(the list goes on) but not strongly

But i am not very envious on the whole and i am not really bothered by other peoples assets

Everybody envies my good looks my intelligence my grace....... :D

This is a good question. I think I can honestly say there is not a single thing that I continuously envy in another, maybe occasionally I admire someone for something, but not envy.

As for others envying me, either I am to deaf or too modest to notice :D

Perhaps envy is too strong a word, maybe it should be something like 'admire' :)

The only thing I can think of that I really envy would be married couples(successful marriages, like my parents for example), the love they have for each other...that "Maricle Romance" as they call it in one of the opening songs for Sailor Moon...having someone to hold you close when you're scared or sad...having someone to cuddle up with when it is cold...etc.

I don't remember anyone specifically saying they envy me, other than Random Shadow's complaining that I have a DVD-ROM drive, which is something she wants. :D

Envy is a strong word, what I mean is just the feeling of wishing you had a certain talent or attribute that someone else has and you don't.

I always envy people who can speak many languages, like my ex-husband who speaks 7 languages fluently and some additional ones at a "tourist level". I wish I could do that! :)
I also envy people who can sing very well, I sing OK, but it would be fun to sing really well :)

I won't tell you what people usually "envy" with me though, because it's going to sound like I'm a really horrible person (which I am, but I'm trying to fool you into thinking I'm rather nice) ;) :D

Ah, one thing: Many people I've met, especially women, have expressed envy of my high metabolism. This is quite understandable, it's very unfair that some people gain weight if they as much as look at a pizza, whereas some people, like me, can eat heaps of fatty food, crisps and sweets without gaining a pound.

I do have a small amount of envy of people like that, too. There is a guy in my Public Speaking Class who speaks Japanese, English, Spanish, and Swahili. I do have a 'nack' for languages, though, so I plan on learning as many languages as I can in my life. :)

You might as well tell us. You haven't managed to fool us, or, at least, you haven't managed to fool me. ;) :p

*rising from chair*

My name is CE, and I'm a...

Ok, here goes, but please take it right. I'm joking about it now, but it isn't really funny, it's been a problem for me since I was a young teenager:

My goddamn looks. :(

Sure, it's nice that other people think you look good. But it's not so funny when other people constantly implies that everything you ever manage in life, is because of your looks, not because of your personality, your wit, your talents, the fact that you have worked hard for something etc...
And it's not funny when people use it against you as a mean of disregarding what you're saying.
And it's even less funny when people aggresively discard things you do because of it :(

Lemme see... I envy people who can do things I'm interested in a little bit better than myself. For instance, I love debates, but if I were to get into one with say Fable or the Lovly C E, I would get whooped, so I envy them.

My friends envy me because I find it extremly easy to make friends with women, and they tend to really like once they know me. :D

I have known my hair to be admired (though it causes me a lot of grief) but I do not feel that people believe I achieve because of it...actually - maybe they humour me? :)

Was that a joke? :D

It actually perplexes even me though. I'm not sure what it is I'm doing. I know for a fact I'm not the best looking guy in school, or the funniest, or the most athletic, or even smartest. I just do what I do, and girls love me for it... I wonder what exactly it is...

It wasn't a joke :) I think you don't need to be best, smartest or most handsome - that's not really what people are looking for. I think the ladies like you becuase you are natural and your self and relaxed about it. :)

*swoons too*
