You actually had an original Atari console...
For Christmas he wants a PS2. It has bothered my brother in law that he chose the Nintendo Gamecube first, over the PS2 since my brother in law is a project manager for PS2 :D :D
Gamecube has better games than PS2 but the PS2 has a larger selection, i don't think that the hubby made the wrong choice as such

@Sleepy - Atari!! Thank you!! :D (it has been many years)

I agree with what you say re the consoles, but my hubby did not make the choice - my boy did :D There was one particular game on the Gamecube (Fantastic graphics!) that appealed more initially than the fact that there is a wider selection on PS2 and that his possible new PS2 could play all his old PS1 games - hence we could rid of a console. The compromise is he is now starting to learn the value of money, and saving ;)

Which was it, Luigis mansion? I haven't got a cube or any other console, but i read a lot about them, i have been considering (if i had the money  ) getting a PS2, just because of Gran Turismo and a few of the more varied games....but the cube has quality not quantity.

That wont last for long, he will get his own wage and then blow it every week just like i do :D

Pikmin actually, though Luigi comes a close second since he is familiar with Mario from Nintendo :D

When he gets his own wage he is welcome to spend it as he likes - that is, as long as he covers all the endowment policies/pension policies we have presumed to begin, and pay his food and his phone bill! :D  Am I presuming the role of predictable parent or what?? ;)

In honesty, I believe in helping them realise the value of money. If they want £60 training shoes, and I am prepared to spend £30 on my own, I will invite them to earn the difference. Is that fair? :)

Seems fair to me.

Apparently Smash Bros. Melee is quite impressive as well.
Though I'm sticking to my SNES, and sometimes hooking up the N64 when I start missing the N64 Zelda games too much...

At least there won't be any tan-lines to worry about :D

Although it's made by the evil Micro$oft, I'd still recommend an Xbox - Halo is just sublime, as is Project Gotham, and over the weekend I was converted to Hunter: The Reckoning. Cool name, cool game  :D I like games where you can do lots of people co-operative play.

Having now played Smash Bros. Melee (Georgi and I met up yesterday and after exhausting the possibilities of Midland  parked inside a videogame store for a while to try it) I can say it is very enjoyable, ridiculously fast paced, and an all-round very stylish game.

I wouldn't dream of it. :D But getting us techies going like that, you'd end up with another THG or Anandtech site!
