or a druid with uber spells

Druids can do some very powerful things at high levels, and they don't depend on other characters. If she had morphed into a huge elemental maybe she could have done some serious damage in melee..

Yeah, but how did the PC stop the Mind Flayers from just teleporting out of there? Considering that all Mind Flayers have the ability to Plane Shift, as a free abiility, any Mind Flayer hit for serious damage should have just fled. Those things are too smart to play with a losing hand.

i didnt think you would ever get to hit a mind flayer !
must have been magic to get that many ,
but saying that in a campaign ive run goblins are rare and intelligent ,any thing can hapen in fantasy
