UB question, yoshimo

Sorry again for my english..

I don't know if this topic has been brought up before, but I can't find anything about it when I Google it, so I'm trying here..

Is there any specific quest/thing you are supposed to do regarding the incredible lousy wakisashi/scimitar/ninja-to you get when you deliver Yoshimo's heart to the temple? I mean it's way too lousy to use, and the price you can get for it isn't much, so I'm just wondering if there's anything you are supposed to do with it?

If you are you talking about Yoshimo's katana, then it is simply the +1 katana he was using when you met him. The only thing special about it is that it has his name on it, so to speak. Once you have taken his heart to the Temple, the quest is over. I suppose you could keep the katana as a souvenir. I think that's supposed to be the point.

I've seen one mod that gives you Yoshimo's diary, which sheds some light on what happened to him. Is that part of the Unfinished Business Mod? I'm not aware of anything special for you to do with his katana.

With UB you get his awesome diary (it's quite a bookwork, i think it's about 13 screens long) and a wakizashi -1 (yes, minus 1) presumably formerly owned by Tamoko. They're just there to add flavour to the game.

Yes, it is the -1 katana I meant.. - I didn't realise it was from UB, since this iis the first time I ever returned his heart to the Waukeens Promenade Temple, (I always went to the slums Temple instead, and nothing happens there.. ) so I was just wondering.. Hm, now I'm just puzzled as to way anyone would ever use a katana THAT bad.. Oh well

I didn't even realise there was a Temple of Waukeen on the Promenade, hmmm.

There isn't, it's the Temple of Ilmater that's being referred to IIRC.

Historically, the wakizashi was always carried by a Japanese samurai along with the katana. Together, the pair of them are known as a daisho. The katana has a long blade which is not always practical to use--indoors, for example. The wakizashi is a much shorter weapon that could be used in tight spaces, or used a backup weapon if something happened to the warrior's katana. The wakizashi was also used to commit seppuku, or ritual suicide, if a warrior felt disgraced.

I guess Yoshimo and Tamoko are supposed to be Japanese, even though they are inhabitants of Faerun, not Earth. If Tamoko is no longer carrying her wakizashi, then I guess she is supposed to be presumed dead. I can't remember if Yoshimo's diary explains how she died. In any case, I think the wakizashi is supposed to have a special place in a warrior's arsenal, with special meaning in terms of tradition and honor. I wonder why Tamoko's wakishazi is a -1 weapon? Perhaps it hasn't been used by anyone since her death, becoming dull with disuse, or perhaps it was damaged in her last battle. Maybe the author of the diary made a slight change to the tradition, and she didn't use it as a weapon at all, but carried it only for its symbolic and ritual value. I guess you would have to ask the author of the mod.
