Random Problem

I just started playing this game and it seems great except I am having a problem with one of the first quests in the game. It's the quest where you have to go into the dungeon in the swamp and pick up the silver shard. I picked it up, and there's supposed to be a dialog between you and Bevil, but it doesn't come up for me. I've tried re-loading an earlier save in the dungeon and doing it over, but it still doesn't work. I've also tried looting each item one by one and clicking loot all, they both have the same outcome. I've also walked all the way back to the camp and talked to the guy you turn it into, and he acts as if I don't have the shard when I do. Am I the only person with this problem, or is this a known bug?

Have you applied any patches? You might be better off playing the OC without any patches.

No patches, but I was playing through the expansion. Should I play without that, and when I want to play the expansion then use that?

If you can install NWN2 without installing MOTB, then that's worth trying. The only downside is that without MOTB you won't be able to use any of the new classes added in the expansion.
