I just unwrapped this baby a few days ago, load it up and have been having a blast until lastnight. I had just put a whipping on the fake emissary, but then when I try to head back to the Owl Well a box pops up telling me that I have encountered something along the way. From reading a walkthrough I know that this is supposed to lead me to the meeting with Casavir, but once that box pops up I literally can't do anything (with my character). If I try to enter the world map, step back, manage my inventory - it says I can't move because I am suffering from a status effect. I can however enter the world map, move etc with any of my other companions after I get shut down on the initial attempt to zone, but this does not lead me to the Casavair scene, it just takes me to my selected destination. I've tried reloading a previously saved game and rerunning the bonegnasher sequence, but no dice. For the sake of completeness I should mention that this also happened several times with the npc druid ( I forget her name ). I didnt realize it had anything to do with a prescripted meeting until the sailors said something about "the four of us" when their were only 3 to my knowledge and they named one as a tree hugger. It wasnt until I reached the tavern in Neverwinter that I even realized she was in my party. That was a mere inconvienece, but not being able to reach the Casavir scene completely prohibits me from advancing the storyline. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? If so, how can I fix it?
I apologize for the wordy post, but I wanted to be as complete as possible in the hopes of getting a relevant response. A million thanks in advance for any help in this matter. (I'm also running this on a HP with quad processors, vista etc etc if that makes any difference).
Pulling my hair out! (Possible Spoliers)
Are you saying that you never fought the battle where you first meet Elanee, and that she just showed up in your party later? If so, have you tried going to the Neverwinter tavern to see if Casavir suddenly joins you, too?
It's a bad sign if you're having problems with the cut scenes and such. Eventually one will probably break your campaign, even if you get past the Casavir problem.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Yes - it never played the scene where I meet her, and technically I guess she never joined my team either even though she was referred to in some NPC dialogue. And yes - she did just show up at the inn. Once I began to speak with her she said that she was the one that helped me out...not once, but twice which is how I knew I had missed something. I've tried going back to see if the Paladin would be waiting at the in, but no dice there either. The odd thing is that the only other companion meeting that would take me to an unselectable area (on the word map) was the gnome bard and that worked out just fine - go figure.
Unless anyone knows of a fix for this I am going to uninstall then reinstall leaving out the MoTB portion till I am ready for it. I just hate starting over again :-(

Good news and bad news. I uninstalled/reinstalled. This time I ONLY installed NWN2, keeping my saved games files. The good news is this woked like a charm. I loaded my save game in which I am standing near world map portal, clicked it an wammo! I got my scene which introduces me to Casavir!
The bad news is because I had originally installed the NWN2 gold edition (including the MoB portion), my character was no longer playable. You see - I had multi-classed my cleric into the stormlord prestige class. I even went so far as to use the cheat thing-a-ma-bobber (forgive me...I'm new to this) to "delevel" myself in hopes I could just relevel and switch the stormlord to warpriest. No dice :-(
All in all, its not that big a loss. Now I can at least go back and see what I was missing, don't have to worry about the annoying mystery "status effect" when trying to load key character related areas and most importantly...I can advance the storyline again.
