My character loves loot and so being I like to enchant and use lots of Feather spells so I can carry a lot of loot and other things. Strangley, for some reason when I use these spells and enchanted armor with Feather it doesn't add the points like it should. For instance if I were use the Gray Cowl and say I have a base encumbrance of 325 then the Gray Cowl may bring me to 525 like its supposed to but mostly it will bring me to anything from 327 to 499. Sometimes I can get all of my enchanted armor and spells to work bringing my total maximum encumbrance to 1289.
My main problem is how come sometimes(albeit rarely) my encumbrance goes up like it should when I use these bonuses, but most times it doesn't go up but by a few points. Any ideas?
P.S. I play on Xbox 360 if that means anything and I have all the official expansions active except for the Orrery.
Problem with Feather Spells
I've noticed the same thing. It's weird and I haven't been able to figure out any kind of consistent pattern to be able to predict how much benefit you'll actually get from any given feather effect, especially when you combine enchanted items with spells and or potions. It seems like diminishing returns; the more you add the less it helps. It gets really weird with Feather enchanted clothing or armor. Sometimes if you drop an item with Feather enchantment, pick it back up and put it on, you can carry more than you could when you had the item on a minute before. I go with Fortify Strength instead of Feather whenever I can because every 10 points of Strength is equal to 50 points of Feather and the enchantments stack more predictably. Plus when you smack things it hurts them more.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?
Using feather is a bad idea, much better to use fortify strength, not only does it have uses other than for carrying things, it actually increases you carrying capacity more than feather does. In short, feather is a bust, don't use it.

feather is bad for an enchantment but as a spell you can get 240+++ seconds for reasonable mana while fortify strength is expensive. I use 2 feather spells (one very long and one 240 seconds and cheap) In my experience they have stacked. I'll mention that I also use fortify strength on top of all that for when I have really hit the motherload
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
