Extra Sword Piece?

Extra Sword Piece?

After forging the gith sword at the scar I checked my backpack and found an extra sword piece that was not used in the forging. Is this normal or did something go wrong?

It is a common bug, though I'm not sure what causes it. Rest assured that if there any consequences at all they'll be positive for you.
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion

I believe the shard you can take from Ammon Jerro is the same one that the reaver at the camp holds. If not a bug, it at least makes sure the character get all the shards, one way or another.
