Siege of Kavatch -- runed portal

Post by lcormell »

I'm stuck and could use a spoiler. I've talked to Martin, Savlian matius, rescued one of the guards, climbed the Sigil tower, talked to a guard in a cage, got the Sigil Keep Key and have climbed to a platform called a Runed Portal.

I assume that the portal lifts you to the next level in the tower. But... Every time i try to activate it, my character falls to his death in the fire below.

What have I missed? I'm desparate. I have tried to get passed this many times. My character is now 9'th level and still can't proceed.

It should be like a circular surface about say 4 ft in diameter at the top of one of those things where the staircases are winding up and you have to fight dremora guy.

I think you just scroll your view to where the name of the portal is highlighted (appears) then hit the space bar like the same button to open a door (spacebar right??I don't know if you xbox etc what not)

Try that.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

That's correct it's a circular surface surronded by spikes. It can be activated by pressing the space bar on a PC keyboard. That doesn't work. I have killed the daedra/dremora in this area on several occassions and several asttempts. (The area respawns after some time). I have walked onto the platform, jumped on it, walked on backwards, etc. It doesn't matter whether I activate it before I get on, as I'm jumping in the air, whatever.

When i activate the poratal, my character simply crashes to his demise below. I can see what I imagine to be the "landing platform" above, but the portal just doesn't go there. It goes only one way -- down to the pit of flames.

There must be a trigger action that I have missed. Can anyone help????

If I'm misunderstanding your situation I apologise, but it sounds like you're not in the right tower. Are you trying to activate something in the tower where you got the key ? If so,
Spoiler
leave that tower and go back into the main area. The key opens a door called Citadel Hall Door, which leads to an area called Blood Feast, which leads to a bunch of ramps with a Dremora guard at the top. The item that you need to collect should display the text "Sigil Stone" or something similar. Once you activate it/ use it/ pick it up, the level ends, so do that after looting the area.
Hope this helps. Note that I took this information directly out of the walkthrough on this site. It's really very well done.

I think you are on the corpse masher (spikes). That is not the right thing. Make the closing the oblivion gate your active quest. A red arrow will appear on the door you have to go through.

The right thing is as small as your characters feet and has no spikes.
